80’s Throwback Film: Top Gun 3D

On the Coastal Eye Care Screen

7:00pm

(1986. US 1 hr, 50 min. Directed by Tony Scott. PG.) The Grand continues its 80th birthday year of monthly screenings of beloved eighties movies with a classic Tom Cruise film being screened in a brand new way- "Top Gun- in 3D!" Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom “Iceman” Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes. Find out if “Maverick” can save the day (in 3D!)... and it's only 80 cents a ticket! The film co-stars Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan, Rick Rossovich, Tim Robbins and Tom Skerritt.
