The Wiyos &
The Hunger Mountain Boys
Sunday, July 8th at 7:30pm
$15 or Flexpass
The Wiyos and The Hunger Mountain Boys evoke the America of the ‘30s and ‘40s through hillbilly swing and Ragtime Blues. All done very vaudevillian. Their ample chops will be on stunning display for one night only at The Grand on Sunday, July 8 for a 7:30 show.
The Wiyos have been subverting the genres of gospel, country and blues since 2002 with their passionate and amusing instrumentation of washboard, kazoo, guitar, banjo, upright bass and tight harmonies. The comedic side of the group plays out like the silent films of Laurel and Hardy or Chaplin.
The Hunger Mountain Boys have emerged from the Berkshires to also tour worldwide and merging old time bluegrass with jazz, rock and ska influences., As the Charlottesville Virginia Weekly said in September 2006 “This isn’t your grandpa’s bluegrass.”
